  • Hi Sanders,

I don't know whether or not this is something you would be comfortable with, but we resorted to good old fashioned bribery! I don't we experienced the extremes you are having, but we carried a packet of small sweets when we went out. When he threw himself on the floor we persuaded him up with one. As he continued to walk nicely he got another one, and so on. We've slowly increased the time between rewards and it works pretty well to the point now that he goes most places willingly (we always take what we like to call 'motivational aids' though just in case!). We used things like a mini box of smarties, or a packet of crisps so he wasn't getting too much sugar at once and you can give little and often if that's what you need. We found the positive reinforcement and distraction as a combination worked well.
