Christmas music

Just wondering if anybody likes listening to Christmas music?

If so, do you have any particular favourites? I'm currently listening to a playlist on Spotify called Mystical Christmas. The songs on the playlist are gorgeous, highly recommended.

Please let me know if you like Christmas music and any favourites you have?

  • This sounds crazy but I feel it's like it's for everyone else and not me. A reminder of people being sociable and happy while I feel awkward and anxious.

I wish I had a bigger social battery!

  • It doesn't sound crazy at all. The Christmas I love so profoundly is its stillpoint, it's heart. Not the surface stuff that orbits that.  I spend a lot of it in splendid isolation, and only an important little of it consists of connection with the smallest of circles (with always low social battery carefully monitored) ... before retreating back to my little cosy burrow for a 'fireside' (sadly figurative in my case, no chimney!) read, or listen, or snooze, or fall into a gratefully permitted (because *everyone* is, for once, resting) stupour in front of the telly. And making time also, and crucially, for a moment of total undisturbed quiet (where every molecule of the room seems to feel the once-a-year significance and magic of it) - to stare deep into the heart of the Christmas tree, or the crib, and sense something liminal, effortlessly sublime, and timelessly sacred there. The hopes and fears of all the years...

I wish you a Christmas like that, and I hope this one affords you the space to find it. I know it's not always easy to find the needed gaps in modern life to get to the magic, but it is there. It just needs a little space and time.

  • I actually know what you mean by "(where every molecule of the room seems to feel the once-a-year significance and magic of it)", I think?

Christmas day doesn't even have a day of a week for me This year's is most definitely NOT Wednesday, it's Christmas Day. I've felt like that ever since I was a small child. It's never gone.
