Update to my last post

So you may know that a while back, I made a post advocating for a sovereign autistic nation. I would of course like to give an update to this, to say that the movement has become much more moderate since I made that post. Most of us (including myself) now advocate for a sovereign municipality or an autonomous region of another country, as we have deemed a full nation to be unfeasible. We've also somewhat rebranded and are now organized under the Autistic Vanguard (although it's in its very early stages currently), but I'd like to know if your opinions have changed, if you'd be sympathetic to the rebranding, etc.  And of course if you have any questions, I'll gladly take those :)

  • If it was not exclusively for autistic people, just tailored to autistic needs, I might be interested. However it would be difficult for me and my partner to move out of the town we live in, as neither of us drive and travelling a long way by public transport is not something we like to do now.

I also have concerns about whether you could get enough autistic people who are happy to work in people facing roles such as shops, cafes etc, and particularly the medical profession. Would you get autism trained neurotypical staff for these roles if you couldn't recruit from the autistic population?

Also, would you accept older people like us who might need care in the not too distant future?

  • Yeah, I can understand it being hard to move.

    If we needed to, yes.

    Of course.
