Dangerous dogs have featured in the media recently because dog attacks, injuries and bites are on the increase because people are becoming more and more iresponsible. Please read what has happened to me and advise.
I need some feed back because this problem is worrying.
As a dog owner I have taken the time out from the beginning to train my dog to make him fit for society
And I would never set him on others. My neighbor next door has an American bull dog and a staff and both dogs are aggressive towards me when I use my garden. Now this has happened on several occasions and there is a hole in the fence were they have chewed it to get to me. They also try to attack my dog. When I used to get home from work the American bull dog would be sitting by his opened front door looking at me, this kind of intimidation is very freighting. When they saw my car pull up they would open there front door and place the dog there to scare me. On one action I had to call the out of hours nuisance council line because the dogs were barking all night. The council came round at 1am in the morning heard the barks and knocked on there door but no one replied. The council notified me a few days after to tell me that they had sent a booklet to them containing instructions on how to train dogs.
Anyway I reported the dogs trying to attack me in my garden and informed them of past intimidation using there dog. Barnet council gave me the phone number of the Dangerous dog unit, I phoned them but could not get through so left message, finally I did get through and a homeless man who has just been re-housed answers to tell me that they had given me the wrong number and others had also phoned him thinking his the dangerous dog unit.
So I phoned Barnet council again and they gave me the dog wardens telephone number for Barnet. Unfortunately no one answer this number because Barnet council do not have a dog warden.
I phoned Barnet council and they apologized and told me they have not got any facilities to help and advised me to stay away from the dogs and to phone the police,
The police came round took notes than visited next door to see the dogs then they phoned me to tell me they would try to get a dog warden from another borough to come and investigate.
2 weeks have gone by and I have not heard anything from the council or the police.
I don't blame the dogs for the way they are its the owners. I recorded one of the attacks with my phone but the police said it was okay they did not need to see it.
I feel Barnet council and the police are ignoring me now.
The police have now set up a compensation scheme just for them to claim resulting from dog attacks and injuries.
I support the RSPCA because I want animals to be happy but these neighbors have let there dogs down and have neglected there duty.
I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, I have been diagnosed with high functioning Autism and comorbid adhd and ocd
What can I do to protect myself and my family?
