boosetr injections

Hi everyone, hope you are all keeping well. I am wondering how to get my son to have his booster injection. He is 15 and has asd which was only diagnosed a year ago. I discussed the visit to the gp with him a couple of days before and he said he was ok with it. We got there and he wouldnt let the nurse near him, wouldnt even take his coat off. He does have issues with touch and is extremely shy.

Any ideas on how to approach this welcome, thanks in advance.

  • Do rewards work with him? If I am fearing something, knowing I have something to look forward to after the event helps me focus on that instead of the feared procedure. Has he tried stress balls? He could move them around in his hands while he is being injected, providing a pressure point and re-directing his attention away from the needle.
