Car Question

Yesterday, my car had a service - £210 RIP OFF - and, whenever I use the accelerator - I hear a ringing noise; like the siren of an Ambulance.

First, I thought an Ambulance was emerging. But then copped on, to the source.

What's up with my car? Not going back to that charlatan again; I'll stick with the mechanic I had. (the Joker I got was recommended by the man I got the car from)

  • I think is onto the answer - sounds like turbo blow by caused by loose vacuum hoses.

Once the engine has cooled down have a good look at all the hoses and see if there are any loose clamps, poor fitting hoses or damage to them. Hopefully you have the skills to fix this yourself as most times it is just loosen the clamp, wiggle the hose on properly and tighten the clamp.

Just remember to do it when it is cool as the area around the turbo gets ridiculously hot.

  • Desmond, All cars have a servcie schedule consisting of minor and major servicing,

IF the garage did a major service which includes changing the cambelt (if your car has one of those) and actually did all the service items, that wouldn't actually be a ripoff. Particualrly if they put every single fastener and spacer back in perfecty...

  • Vacuum leak between the mass airflow sensor.
May not have been re-connected properly after the new air filter.

  • 2015 Vauxhall Insignia Diesel.

  • What sort of car is it, if has a turbo, being able to hear the whistle isn't uncommon when accelerating and if you lift off the accelerator the whistle lessons so it could sound like a siren?
