Superstorm Charlie

Hello everyone.

Today (Friday 7th February), there is a severe weather warning in place for the Southwest England. A storm, known as 'Superstorm Charlie', could hit the area tonight. It has been hit by torrential rain, storm force winds and flooding, and things could get worse. Although the weather is not quite as bad in my home area of Felixstowe in Suffolk, I feel so sorry for any autistic people or carers that may have had to evacuate their homes. I cannot relax for one moment without fearing for people's safety in that area - I just want these storms to stop for their sake, and I desperately want better weather as soon as possible.

I have made a previous comment on this forum regarding the St Jude's storm two or three months ago, and the Felixstowe area suffered more damage than during the Great Storm of 1987 (a section of my back garden fence was almost completely destroyed by one big gust of wind).

Aside from any unaffected areas of Southwest England, does anyone else feel as sorry as myself? If any autistic person has had to evacuate, I hope they keep themselves safe. I have seen some horrific scenes of devastation in the news, but people's safety is top priority.

  • Hi - I feel sorry for all those affected, altho we all have our different levels of sadness.  I do think about the autistic people + how very difficult it must be for them and those who care about them.  Also other vulnerable people such as those with physical and/or mental health problems etc.  People who need to keep hospital or Dr's appointments or visit loved ones in hospital.  People who can't get to their jobs - sometimes vital jobs.  It's terrible for all those living there + those trying to help.
