Short answer, yes. Sitting too near to someone else is also uncomfortable, cinemas and trains are the worst. I like to have a total exclusion zone of about a metre around me.

Yes and it's not just autistic people either, our stoneage brains are still wired to be wary of the closeness of strangers, some people like a larger amount of personal space than others.
