Quick update on what's been going on.
As many of you have noticed, there's a warning that flashes up when logging into the site. We've asked for a renewal of our certificate and I'm hopeful it'll be done by the end of the week. I'm sorry for the length of time this has taken, but there were concerns it would cause issues with our main site.
Spam - we were hit with spam again today. Our moderator was able to jump on and remove it, as well as block the user. Once the certificate issue is resolved, we'll be testing our automatic spam blocker. If that doesn't work out for us, or community users have issues, we'll look at alternative solutions. Paull, you mentioned a downvoting system to deal with spam. We've looked into this, and it would be quite a costly and lengthy undertaking as our site doesn't have the functionality built in. If we don't have any luck with the automated spam blocker, we'll revisit it and see if it's something we can do.
I'm sorry for the issues the site's been having lately and hope to resolve them soon.
