Feelings

talk about how you feel and help others to feel better at the same time

  • talk about how you feel and help others to feel better at the same time

A lot of autists have real problems understanding or even getting in touch with their feelings, so talking about them is like a guy trying to talk about the pains of childbirth - they may have read about it but can't really communicate meaningfully to someone who has.

Using something like the emotion wheel (look it up - a fairly simple diagram to help identify emotions) can help you understand yourself but understand that nuanced discussions are probably something we are not equipped for.

As for helping others - the best way is to just listen to them and pay attention without interrupting. Let them feel heard and understood (even in the understanding is limited) and offer them support. This is what most NTs really want.
