As the title says...I personally like chess. I've been learning it since last year and following tutorials online. Anyone else?

always played it as a kid, had a electronic chess board you can play against the computer.
i kinda made a set opening pattern and always stuck to it, sent 2 middle pawns up, then i think i sent bishops to stand where they was, then moved a knight out, then i did the special castle move with the king where it can move 2 spaces towards a castle if the space is open and have the castle leapfrog it, the only time i think a king can move 2 spots and also have another piece move in same combo turn.
that was generally my opening defence set up, usually change a bit sometimes with another variation where i send the middle 2 forward by 2 spaces in their first move sometimes and then the pieces to the side of them 1 space forward to cover them while doing this same move.
although yeah, thats kinda me opening with a set rigid plan opening which when done all the time likely can be exploited and predicted, i always stuck to it, then ofcourse after that i did whatever as thats generally the time plans fall apart/the engagement time.
i played against a guy a few years back in a charity shop where we was forced to volunteer and had nothing to do so we played chess. he beat me pretty much all the time lol but i still continued.... then the last game we had we was both down to few pieces but he had like 2 queens as he got pawns over my side a few times and he had other pieces while i only had a castle a pawn and my king and something else probably a bishop and he was chasing my king around making every turn check and it was clear its checkmate in a few turns, but i saw ahead a bit and noticed his king was near my pawn and so i pretended i was only interested in saving my king and all my moves being to try save the king from check so i set his king up in position where i could get a checkmate next turn but needed his queen to move so i sacrificed either my castle or bishop putting it in a position his queen can move and take it but realistically like im trying to save my king or pin his king with it while pretending i didnt see his queens line of attack to it. he leaped and took my piece and i moved my final piece and he realised i check mated him lol my only win against that guy, but it felt good, and ti cost nearly my entire board and i was on the ropes all the time and he has so many queen promotions lol so was a good win.
