Coat hangers are the worst…

I really dislike coat hangers, especially the plastic ones. So noisy, forever tangled and they always act in unpredictable ways that catch me off guard every time I have to carry or use them.

I have ironing to do later and so had to wrangle about 15 of them from one location to another. It was, as always, a terrible and frustrating event where I ended up sort of yelling at them for doing what they were doing as if they had consciously chosen to be awkward! In actual fact it was my clumsy handling of them that caused everything.

I’m now off for a sit down, a strong coffee and a short period of time imagining a world without coat hangers!

On a more serious note, I know alternatives are available or that I should invest in some better ones, but just fancied a rant!

Does anything annoy you like coat hangers annoy me?

  • Bin bags. Never the right size or shape for the bin which I, of course, allow to fill to the point that I squash the rubbish down rather than change the bag. At that point, the fact that the bin bag is slightly too short to reach the bottom of the bin results in it slipping off at the top and being impossible to remove neatly when the time comes. So I inevitably end up engulfing the bin in another upside-down bin bag from the top and turning the whole horrible mess over and shaking the full bag out of the bin into the new one and running to the wheelie bin (usually in the dark) hoping I make it before it all splits open and spills rubbish all over my driveway.

  • Oh and of course, the arch nemesis of the bin bag is the discarded coat hanger. Never was something so perfectly designed to poke holes through a bin bag so why do I never learn??!
