Do you like emojis?

Do you like emojis? Admittedly at first I never did, well not much anyway. But now it's a different story for me and they are a huge part of my life and actually aid me in many ways.

I struggle in a big way when it comes to interacting with others and it used to really get me down but now I write to people whenever I can whether it's by Whatsapp, email or text. Emojis are my go to way of expressing myself through words as even with words I struggle to express myself.

It's like if I get. "How are you feeling?" And then my mind goes a complete blank, if it's in person I can't answer this and will just say fine even though I'm not fine. But through digital chat I can put one of these.

It's talking without talking and it works so well for me. My family are mostly supportive of this and will talk to me digitally now which is great as it's easier for me and a lot less stress.

I've tried explaining how difficult interactions are for me. Not everyone gets it. But most people I know at least try and that means the world to me.

Right now I am Slight smile happy.

  • I wasn't a fan, I was very slow to accept them as I was a prolific user of the web prior to the emoji boom so I kept using the old classics like xD and :) etc. among many ascii things. After a while I got used to them. I tend to use a limited number of emojis that I can rely on to communicate certain things. I tend not to understand a lot of other emojis so I'm reluctant to use them sometimes but I sit and observe the context other people use them in and there's an emoji dictionary out there if I'm struggling.

  • That's what I do use just a select few which I know people can "read" and understand. I don't use all of them though, there's so many and half of them I'm not really sure what they mean lol it can be confusing. I grew up with the XD text as well, at the time it was so popular, everyone was using it.
