Does anyone else struggle with wrapping Christmas presents?

I find wrapping presents one of the worst parts of Christmas. I try and try but I can't get it right, the paper tears, or the wrapping looks terrible like no effort was actually put into it whereas in reality so much time and effort was put into it.

I always end up ruining Christmas wrapping... I spent the entire day on wrapping earlier and it's done now, but, looks terrible.

I suppose this is to do with my autism and lack of coordination and being able to make my hands work properly. I find it very irritating.

  • I'm not too bad if the item being wrapped is in a rectangular or square box, but I can end up getting into a right old pickle if I need to wrap an irregular-shaped item.

    Depending on the size of the item, one way to get around the wrapping issue is to present it in a gift bag with layers of tissue paper. If the recipient is elderly and struggles to open gift-wrapped presents, the gift bag and tissue paper method can be better for them.

    I'm aware there are plenty of online articles and videos that explain how to wrap presents like a professional. However, if you struggle with coordination, then maybe gift bags (or gift boxes) and tissue paper could be the way forward. It does away with the need to cut rolls of gift wrap to the right size for the gift and avoids the issue of wrestling with sellotape too.

    You iadvertantly just gave yourself the answer - find a rectangular box slightly bigger than the item, put it inside with a little padding (scrunched up paper) and wrap away using your known skills with thus shape and you have a solution.

    It may not work for a pot plant or anthing that has to be kept the right way up, but in these cases make a lid for the box, wrap it in paper and it looks even classier!

    That would mean me needing to be even more organised, which isn't always my strong suit. Lol.
