All for the the want of the editor's red pen, this mercury retrogression will be short and gnarly like a rough wave slamming the shorebreak. Lots of snarling and pushing of boundaries, shield thumping, lots of nicked skin and bruises. It's a time to breathe and watch from the sidelines, unless your caught in the cross fires, or find that someone's handed you a shield, in which case, drop the shield, breathe and step, or crawl, to the sidelines if you can, duck and cover if you can't, pretend to be dead if needs must.
Some bible (or cultural correlative) thumping commences around Christmas day -- In place of the shield, that is.
January 2nd rains on the parade and we all go home, not really knowing WTF was that.
Fresh flowers, chocolates and starbucks gift cards work wonders just about now: licking of each others wounds.
On the 5th we all roll up our sleeves and get back to whatever we had been about, with a fresh resolve to study war no more.
