Keeping non stereotypical autistic jobs

My husband struggles to keep jobs. He’s very personable, recently open about his autism also very intelligent yet easily bored, and doesn’t like the stereotypical autistic job areas of science or maths with repetitive tasks.

He recently found a great job until they kept changing the shift pattern, asked for fixed pattern and was told they couldn’t accommodate as it wasn’t fair to the NTs, he couldn’t cope and left… this experience really knocked his confidence.

however he needs a job to feel valued and keep busy.

Two bits of advice I’m after

any good employers in East Kent?

an agency specialising in autistic jobs/employers you’d recommend that help him find a job?

  • Hi I’ve been trying to reply for a day or 2 but the site hasn’t been working! Just wanted to say that although the day to day experience will depend on the line manager and team, East Kent Hospitals has a neurodiversity staff network. The chairs are great and there is also someone from occupational health involved who wants to help with reasonable adjustments (but again - line managers…) There are so many different roles, clinical and non clinical that there may be something he is interested in?
