Feedback Anxiety

Hi, So I need your help.

For some clarification I am at university and my personal tutor is aware that I am autistic.

I am at (technically) second year of uni and am struggling with something kind of important: feedbacks. Which is as you can imagine an important part of university: receiving and giving feedbacks. Now I did not think I would need to talk about this here, but I do need your help.

Feedback, especially giving feedbacks on other people's work has, for some reason that I cannot point out, given me extreme anxiety. I cannot bring myself to write a single note or say anything if I am put on the spot. I block and am filled with panic and feelings of anxiety. Even writing on little pieces of paper is impossible. Now my tutor has tried to practise with me but it has not been very helpful (unfortunately).

Earlier today we arrived at a session which is usually a session for exercise, and surprise! It's two hours of feedback I was the only one unaware of. The teacher saw I did not post my work nor had any clues what they were referring to. They interrupted the lecture to ask if I had received the email (which only made things worst) and touched my shoulder, which made me jump as I do not handle touch well. I thought I would take a grip but soon enough my table was task to write a feedback so I left. I am undoubtly gonna receive an email in a couple of hours but I immediately rushed to my room to write this.

This seems like minor thing to get high levels of stress over. On my way back I kept wondering if this truly was some kind of an autistic struggle or something possibly related to trauma of some kind. It would really help me to know if you have similar struggles so I can figure out how to work on this.

  • I've been recommended this, I just had trouble applying for technical reasons, but I hope they can help. Adjust the course sounds like this: don't let this student write feedback because she's autistic and can't handle it (extremely exaggerated comment)

I don't WANT to run from my problems, I want to learn how to control them, I hope DSA will provide help with this
