diagnosis

I found out who I am at last, and who Ive always been,

Its puzzled me for so very long and the truth was never seen

I now know why I didnt fit in, and almost never have,

And why my default position, was always feeling bad.

It explains why friendship eludes me, and why other people see

A person so very different to the one I always see.

Why words I say , can shock me, with the way that they are taken

With such a command of language , I may as well be alien

Why I feel most times I,m in a bubble, floating through my days

With people dodging and ducking, and moving from my way.

To be misunderstood so long, has been a little draining

If it had not just worn me down, I,d keep up the explaining

But now the reason at last is out, and my puzzlement is through

Its not me I'm feeling sorry for, unfortunately it’s you!

So if you're not like others, and you live in a different place

If you find it hard to force a smile upon your face

If you find it hard to explain, that there is no harm being you

Don’t pick friends from other worlds, pick friends just like you.

  • Welcome. I'm new to this place also.

I was diagnosed in my teens just over ten years ago but I remember how the confusion seemingly lifted and the feelings of knowing and understanding that followed after. Enjoy the feeling and I hope this new chapter in your life will be fruitful and eye opening.
