  • Hi Karen152,

It is not possible to say what will happen as your son gets older.

I have two boys both on the spectrum.  Both were diagnosed at the age of about 3years.  One has stayed pretty much the same (he's 7) and the other seems to be collecting additional diagnosises at an amazing rate (he's 9).  The one with multiple problems is still the same boy he has always been, he just has a few extra labels which help him get additional support (well sometimes).

I think what I am trying to say is please don't get too worried about this (easier said than done I know).  If your son does develop other things it won't change who he is or how you are with him.  In my experience, other problems don't appear over night they slowly emerge over a long time and you adjust what you do as you go along.

    Hope this helps!
