Woo-hoo! Wahey!

I am currently breathing what seems like a long-overdue sigh of relief. For the past couple of weeks, or thereabouts, I had been suffering from pain and discomfort due to a fragment of tooth (or possibly bone) protruding from my gum. The pain included earache, which had been driving me potty.

Whilst I could have booked an emergency dental appointment to have it removed, I had been resisting for as long as I could, as I couldn't justify the hassle of traveling to the other side of my town for the sake of an appointment that would probably last less than 5 minutes.

In recent days, I had been able to wiggle the fragment, but attempts to remove it myself had proven far too painful, despite the application of oral numbing gel. My most recent attempt had been yesterday morning. Well, this morning, I looked in the mirror and noticed that more of the fragment had worked its way out of my gum. Without going into too much detail, it required minimal effort to remove. There was no pain or any bleeding from my gums either, which I considered a bonus.

I am now crossing my fingers and hoping there will be no further fragments. Thumbsup

  • Hi Sparkly,

I'm sorry you've had a lot of dental issues. If any part is going to hurt it would be something which you use every day - mouth and teeth! Typical!

Fingers crossed that's all behind you now and you can look forward to a pain free mouth.

This has reminded me of when I was about 9 I went to the dentist for a check up and I was very anxious, who wouldn't be??

Anyhow the dentist poked around my mouth telling me about not eating so much sugar and then he said about removing some plaque...

He got this little drill thing and I was out of that chair, screaming as loudly as I could and I ran out and was screaming for help. I made it to the car park before my mum got me.

LOL. As you can probably tell I am terrified of the dentist. Some would say I overreacted. My dad did. My mum was more understanding. Lol.

    Take care x :)

  • Ah yes, the dreaded scale and polish, with its high-pitched sound. I am not a fan of it either, and according to my dentist, there are many patients (including neurotypical) who consider it worse than any other kind of dental procedure.
