Hello everyone.
Last night (Thursday 5th December), there was a tidal surge forecast for some eastern coastal areas of the UK. Many homes and buildings have had to be evacuated, and it was predicted that some areas would receive worse flooding than the infamous North Sea floods of 1953.
Fortunately, my home town of Felixstowe, on the Suffolk coast, is safe due to the flood defence systems proving effective. However, being forced to evacuate as a safety precaution can be a difficult experience for autistic people. At times, there wouldn't be time to evacuate absolutely everything from a home or building. Even though my home is safe, I would be worried about things like power cuts and travel disruption. Fortunately I have a number of rechargeable devices that would keep me going during any power cut.
If I ever had to evacuate my home or work place because of the tidal surge, the flooding or whatever, my relatives or work colleagues would help me out where necessary. It's always a good idea to be well equipped for even the least likely situation. I sincerely hope that any members of this forum that live in or near a coastal town are OK following this tidal surge issue.
