Why was this forum down all day yesterday?
Rather than the tick up and down buttons can we have a hug and like button please? I've seen posts and I would have liked to use those on them rather than tick up. I feel like it would be a lot more personal and friendly.
Good idea. We get a lot of old threads getting randomly bumped up which surely can be avoided.
technically it is... as if its a server then the server runs off the electric of the national grid and that electric is mostly all coal based lol
Hi Online Community users,
Thankyou for raising these issues.
We are aware of the technical issues affecting log ins and the ongoing issues with email notifications at the moment. We are working to resolve this as quickly as possible.
For all other issues, please contact communitymanager@nas.org.uk directly with screenshots of the issue where possible.
Thank you for your patience.
Kind regards,
Rosie Mod
Ah you know what, if you don't ask you definitely don't, get so I've sent this idea to the community manager.
This place needs a massive overhaul in general, I wouldn't mind the forum going offline for 24hrs if it was for vital updates. For example it's clear this Forum was put together from existing code from a template for other forums pre-socialmedia because on our profiles it alludes to a blog feature in name but we can't use it. There's no standard safeguarding like block and mute features on other sites. And for a community heavy into special interests there's no groups feature either.
Old threads going back way over 10 years old with now massively outdated information are still open and public, that's now a potential misinformation hazard and a huge amount of server space that could be freed up if they permanently deleted threads inactive for over 7 years.
What they should do is work on a replacement offline that they can then transfer any thread active in the last year and existing members over to so that one morning we wake up and can just log in to a shiny new social space. Because if this place is unsustainable long term it's just gonna go and then NAS with have to deal with calls to make and run a Discord server or something which honestly I don't think they want to do because that would have a heavy influx of youngsters and require finding a way bigger mod team very quickly, they might not be able to manage it.
I emailed the community manager yesterday as it was down most of the day though I was able to post a few times over lunch. The community manager said the mods couldn't access it either and it had been escalated to their IT team to fix it. Seems to be working properly again today which is nice.
Yh it happened on the 14th of this month too, I remember the date because the time tag is on the DM I sent to Debbie about it at the time. This time I don't even think the DMs worked though.
Dunno but I didn't like it. I emailed as even the main page was making you re register to see anything, but it let me register a new name to the existing email address. Gotta admit I started looking for other forums cos there have been outages a few times lately
Ooh, now there's an idea.
There's a few members that seem to be frequently on the naughty list, maybe they can donate the coal they'll get in their stockings this year lmao.
If we're not careful, they may start recruiting us members to go down the mines and get the coal.
Honestly based on how outdated this forum is I suspect the server runs on coal and they lost the shovels for a day.
Perhaps they had forgotten to put the 50p in the meter.
Sorry! That was a seriously lame joke.
i emailed them, they just said their team is looking into it.
but yeah its been down and buggy for a few days really. was down like a day or 2 with a error message for me, then one of the days it was back on, then off again, then on again.
probs just a server issue or something. but they have their own seperate team to check on it i think so mods probably only knew as much as you did about the issue.
Apart from the moderators, I don't think anyone knows. Well, not unless anyone has emailed the Community Manager to ask and has received a reply.
