Doctor Who

David Tennant will be back really soon as the 14th Doctor Upside down 3 specials with him in. I'm greedy I want more haha.

I saw this fanmade trailer on YouTube today. I thought it was amazing and really shows how wonderfully beautiful the Whoniverse is!

If anyone is thinking of watching Doctor Who for the first time I would show them this trailer.

Today I watched The Girl in the Fireplace episode - one of my favourites! Blush

  • • SPOILER Potential. •

Judging just from X3 specials and a Christmas special..

I still can't decide, myself. It may the "Disney effect";  I love the new Doc's body language, goofiness, plasticity and presence, but, at times he felt staid, held back and unsure. Like two different actors under two different directors. I think Russel Davies is calling one set of shots, and Disney another, literally. Other shows have suffered for this. So, my jury's still out. I like this actor and I hope he can over come the constraints to shine. Matt Smith ran into a somewhat similar problem: great actor, but with motley, mediocre writing and directing.

On his first run with Doc Who Russell Davies had free reign creatively to expand his own vision -- There was no overarching Disney paradigm to have to cookie-cutter himself into -- so his episodes and the overarching series were cohesive, satisfying, crisp, punchy, fresh, imaginative, edgy and fun for the everyone. Now, with Disney on board, it feels chimeric, inchoate.

    .

so I like the new doctor's potential, not sure if the writing and directing will give him enough meat to chew on yet.

    .

    Lets see what happens.

sorry if this is a too much .

  • Love his new sonic screwdriver as well. It looks really vintage but amazing at the same time. Love the Gallifreyan markings on it as well. Blush

  • The girl in the fireplace is such an awesome story. It's one of my favourites, but it's really sad at the end which I always cry at.

  • I like him as well. He's already so unique, love his charisma, his style and his whacky eccentric personality lol. He's already so Doctorish and I know I'm really going to enjoy his time of playing the Doctor.

I liked Ruby as well. She reminds me a bit of Clara in her face. Really great character and I'm looking forward to seeing how she grows and changes over time.

  • I like him. Confident, charming, lots of energy. Good follow up to Tennant. I just hope the new series sticks with one compelling companion. The entourage around Jodie Whittaker ruined that series for me. I just didn't care about any of them.

  • thoughts on the new doctor?

  • SPOILER

in the Christmas special.-  terrrific kilt outfit in the dance club!!

I could go with that too.. I think it was an homage to "Queer As Folk".

  • my inner jury is still out deliberating on the screw driver.. I want to see how he handles it... it's kinda '80s alien retro.

  • I was slightly amused to think they might keep him in his smalls.

  • I think it is...I think I read that somewhere.

The new sonic looks cool. I love the fact it has Gallifreyan writing on it. Relaxed

  • Loved this final of the 3. The 2<3 mitosis, I'm calling it. I enjoyed the pageantry. And _Donna gets a cool job! I hope some of the players in this miniseries are in the regular season run! Does anyone know when that will be?

  • I have been wondering for decades why they have NOT! Thanks Russell! you da' man!

  • I suppose this is his new outfit?

  • The Girl In The Fireplace is a great episode! One of my favourites actually...

I enjoyed the episode last night and thought Ncuti's first moments as the Doctor were very well done. I'm looking forward to seeing him on his own on the Christmas special.

    Slight smile

    I also saw this today.

His new sonic screwdriver. Grinning Different but cool in my opinion.

He looks like he's going to be amazing!

  • Dr Who gets a bit of stick on youtube from the online tv and film critic called the Critical Drinker:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRT2gT9ECt4

  • The episode itself was really good as well. Don't think they could've casted the toy maker better! It was so creepy with the puppets. Also interesting to see that the toymaker was behind the timeless child thing? Not sure if that means it was all a "game" or if it it's still continuity? Just like Dr who to leave us with more questions than answers!

  • 100% agree with everything you said here.

Ncuti already looks like he's going to be an amazing Doctor!!! I love his appearance, his charisma and just how "Doctor" he is already lol.

I wish he'd had his first moments in the spotlight on his own as well but I thought it was still awesome.

  • So thoughts on Bi-regeneration?!

It's so different and new. I know it's gonna upset a lot of fans, but it's exciting. It throws up so many questions. My immediate one is, are they gonna do a Tennant/Donna spin off as part of the wider "whoniverse". Can Tennant regenerate? So many questions.

I love ncuti, what a beautiful man. My only gripe was it felt like due to the bi regeneration it felt like it took the shine off of his first moments as the doctor. Every doctor has had their first moment as the doctor to stand centre stage. But having two of them feels like it took some attention away from ncuti and shared it with Tennant. Still exciting tho!

  • Oh and very excited to see what Ncuti Gatwa will be like as the 15th Doctor! I have very high hopes. Slight smile

  • I've been enjoying the new Doctor Who specials. It's different but still excellent in my opinion. Russell is back in the writing chair again and it shows, it really does.

I loved the ending with the late but brilliant Bernard Cribbins in Saturday's episode as well. I saw this great picture on BBC.

Bless him. I read Bernard Cribbins autobiography and what a life he led. Rest In Peace Sir.

    Relaxed
