Hi I love colors and love to collect colors
the names of colors and their origins.
tubes of paints, pencils, pens etc
the same garment in different colors etc
having a color of the day and seeing it everywhere, noting an example's variety
of that color and how I would mix various other colors to get it.
making color charts and painting pictures using the charts as reference
swatches of colored fabric I sometimes sew them together.
Does anyone else enjoy colors as well?
thanks for the link Hibernating!
I'm going to have to go with Prussian blue, I love it's serious personality and business-like attitude in working with other colors.
I like the idea of synthetic colors overall.
Prussian blue was used in the Edo period for woodblock prints. one of thte first to be synthesized.
A whole new alchemy of man-induced colors followed!
My town burned down this year but, when I had a place the walls were filled with my paintings. abstract paintings and depictive. I had a industrial size lazy-susan that I put all my paint tubes around the edge of like a rainbow. I like to work in water soluble oils, "Holbein Aqua duo" oils. I had most of the colors they made. I'm really looking forward to starting up my collection again and to paint again. I also collect gouache and watercolor paints, do color charts and pin them up to just muse over.
The walls were white. I also wear just one kind of frock in many different patters and colors. those make a nice splash. I leave them out to see.
Komorebi, forest green, anything that fills that palette is my favourite colour..
wow that David! His special interest in one pigment! Thank you for the link Debbie!
What is your favourite colour origin story?
Your room must look amazing!
so rich. It smells of a lake just before rain.
I like colours and can feel excited by them, especially as I have an interest in arts and crafts. However, I'm not so sure that I would describe my love of colours as a special interest.
For example, I enjoy looking at tie-dyed clothing consisting of lots of bright colours. However, I wouldn't feel a compulsion to buy such a garment unless I felt confident it would suit me and flatter my skin tone.
Lapis Lazuli, as an example, for anyone interested:

I love looking at the early hand tinted illustrated manuscripts and bibles.
It has fascinated me how much time and effort went into creating these pigments.
I recommend a book:
The Art of Colour by Kelly Grovier.
thanks! Some new info in there for me.
As an artist and for visual stimming I like colours, I wouldn't say it's a special interest though. But I wonder if it's any interest to you I found this video recently about pigments https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rApTzWboLrA
