Friends

Today has been a bad day, I cannot stop thinking about the death of Matthew Perry and it’s really got to me considering he is someone I’ve never met and not a friend or family member. My overthinking brain is on overdrive.

Friends has always been a massive interest of mine, I have rewatched it countless times, know the majority of the words off by heart, have collected memorabilia, went to the friends fest. I grew up on it, turned to it when I needed some comfort, some laughter, needed a good cry, or some background company. I feel so sad that someone who bought so much warmth and humour to the world has passed away so young. I feel so distracted ever since I heard the news of his passing. Not only was he an incredible actor, he also did a lot of work around addiction and mental health.

Is anyone else a big friends fan? What’s your favourite episode or character? Have you seen Matthew Perry in anything else? Thought it may be nice to share some good memories of his work if anyone else shares my love of friends and Matthew.

  • i think perhaps that the feel is part of your life and era is ending.

to me friends was airing when i was in school so i watched it before school always like routine, it cheered me up before i went to that horrid place. friends is what i assumed everyones life was like other than mine, what i should aspire for in relationships and what i should have as a model for friendship. which i could never get so watching it was like watching a missing piece of my life.

but yeah, with them ageing and dying, its like a piece of you is lost from the world. a bit of your history gone, your childhood erased.
