Government petition I created

I hope this is okay to share here. Mods, feel free to delete if not.

I created this petition 2 months ago and haven't really shared it around properly (or had the opportunity to) but it just needs 5 signatures.

It's "Criminalise social media pile-ons" and the body is as follows:

--

There need to be greater consequences for those engaging in pile-ons towards individuals on social media. The impact on the individuals' mental health is never considered, irrespective of the subject matter and whether it's considered to be deserved. These also deserve access to specific support.

It has become too easy for a mob of users on social media to attack someone. Irrespective of their supposed crime, I don't believe it achieves anything. It impacts the individual more negatively if they've had to deal with 1,000 of anonymous users shouting abuse, and that will not help their progress if they are needing to learn from a mistake.

I did put this together on a whim when I was abroad and I'm not best pleased by my grammatical errors. I know it's a very nuanced topic too that might bring up some issues (such as the idea of removing anonymity) but I guess it's my own experience that's fuelling this.
