Sadly praise by some for the thoroughly execrable Neil Oliver means this is not, for me, a healthy place to take part in.

My late friend loathed Neil Oliver, who they knew in person. I am inclined to concur.
That makes things tricky. I'd rather see none of what that person's posts, and I'd have to get the scrolling precisely right to avoid doing so.
Is there an option to block a member?
Unfortunately not - I tried that after an umpleasant exchange with another member but this is not a function implemented here.
I would echo the others recommendations - just don't read their posts when they mention the name.
To do otherwise is the classic "throwing the baby out with the bathwater"
Is there an option to block a member? That way I would not feel the need to move.
Classy Desmond - because it is so very apt !

Excellent!!
Morning Firemonkey.
Like Autonomistic says.......this is a broad church here.....so we are NEVER going to agree with every opinion and comment expressed. Some of it is going to be darn-right objectionable to some of us, some of the time. That's life.
If the "essence" of this place was set at a "flavour" that was counter to my values and opinions, then I would leave. However, I find that the "essence" of this place is simply autistic = good / refreshing / random. People express themselves clearly most of the time. Respect for each other seems to be significantly higher here than in the general population and genuine people seem to have a reasonable shot at just being genuine.

I hope you're not leaving due to that. A discussion on one particular thread certainly does not represent the views of forum members in general. You can still participate here and just ignore any discussions you find particularly offensive.
Autists are renowned for 'black and white' thinking and it does seem that views can tend towards extremes. Take for example some discussions on Covid, they are either of the ultra cautious never stopped mask wearing variety or the anti-vaxxer never started wearing masks variety!
Personally I tried watching one of his videos once, to see what the fuss was about. I didn't make it to the end, life's too short!
Interesting. I wasn’t up to speed on his apparent deterioration until you mentioned him, so checked Wikipedia. I remember him fondly from Time Team and Coast but it’s clear he has gone increasingly “off grid”. I would have concurred with his stance against Scottish independence and the Covid restrictions but not his anti vax antics, and definitely not his recent groundless comments about Ukraine let alone his vanishing down conspiracy rabbit holes. One has to wonder why this has happened to a once science and fact based presenter, my mum would have he “had got in with a bad crowd”, but are his beliefs now even sane? It’s a tricky one.
