Some positive news

Of late, I feel that some of the things I have posted about have fallen into the category of 'woe is me'. Therefore, I wish to balance it out by sharing what I consider to be some positive news.

When I had cause to visit an emergency dental practice a few weeks ago, my son and I had been in the process of waiting to be registered with a different dental practice, which is more local to us.

Yesterday, my son discovered he had received a missed call a few days previously from that dental practice. The purpose of the call had been to inform him that we are now both registered. As a result, we have now both booked appointments for an initial check-up. Yay! Grinning

The dental pain, which I had previously been suffering from has reduced to a level that I am now able to tolerate without the need for any pain-relieving medication. In the event that it flares up and becomes intolerable again, the fact that I am now registered with the 'local' dental practice means that I can now book an emergency appointment there.

Knowing that I am now fully registered with the 'local' dental practice has helped to ease some of my anxiety. The dental practice is one that I had previously been registered with many years ago and the dentist had always done their best to make me feel relaxed and at ease.

  • Knowing that I am now fully registered with the 'local' dental practice has helped to ease some of my anxiety.

    That is good news!

Now please get yourself booked in for a checkup and e-ray (all quite painless) so the dentist can pick up on any issues that may be lurking before they become problems for you. The issue with low level dental pain may be simply solved with appropriate antibiotics or may be a lull in the storm.

Also ask how they deal with very anxious patients like yourself and if there are options for pain free treatment (eg being sedated). The sedation idea is a great one if you have a lot of work to be done in one go.

Keep that momentum going and get your mouth back to its smiley norm please Slight smile

  • Thank you, Iain. Relaxed

An appointment has already been booked for a check-up.

Just over a week ago, I completed a course of Amoxycillin prescribed by an emergency dental practice, due to me being in severe dental pain. I have made the 'local' dental practice aware of this, along with the fact that I was told I would need at least two extractions. As it has been several years since I was last in the habit of regularly attending dental appointments, I am anticipating that I am likely to require a fair amount of work done.

As the 'local' dental practice is one that I was registered with in the past, I feel I can say with certainty that they are good at dealing with anxious patients like me.
