What do you do when you’re bored?

What places are good to go to when you don’t have social battery but feel bored and want to go out and do something. Not necessarily just a walk but to go and do a ‘task’. I wanted to go to the cinema but there weren’t any movies out that I wanted to watch

what kind of things do you do when you’re bored/lonely? I’ve just been doing lots of drawing

  • Sometimes I do drawing, play games, just lay in bed...

Other less cool things I do is go on Reddit, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter lol.

  • Me too unfortunately- sometimes I think the idea of going somewhere would be nice but I’m never really up to it

  • To me, going places to do something requires a lot of mental energy and preparation so it's not really something to do when I'm bored. Like I love going out for walks, but I need to plan vaguely where I'm going at least the day before.

So my regular boredom stuff is just whatever. Playing video games, reading, listening to music, watching cycling.

  • I love reading. I just find it hard to start books but once I do I really do enjoy it

  • That’s a fun idea- I’ve been wanting to get a cheap digital camera

I find reading great for recharging.

It gives a single focus, a way to empty the mind of irritating thoughts, helps the body relax from the tensions of the day and enriches your mind.

Different types of book give different results - for example I'm reading:

The Lord of The Rings by JRR Tolkien as it is wonderfully immersive and written in a way that makes you not want to stop. It is great, escapist fantasy that makes me forget the troubles of the world.

Divergent Mind - Thriving in a World That Wasn't Designed for You - Jenara Nerenberg (2020) - great for deepening my understanding of autism and gives me a sense of purpose to be able to help give tips to others.

Evan Ross Katz - Into Every Generation a Slayer Is Born,How Buffy Staked Our Hearts (2022) - biography of an actor from Buffy The Vampire Slayer. A nice bit of lightweight reading around a subject I like (I'm rewatching the 7 seasons of it now) and that gives me a sense of knowing more about the whole subject. Easy to pick up and put down unlike The Lord of The Rings.

I also have an extensive collection of sci-fi and fantasy films for when I don't feel like doing anything much or my hands hurt from my work (construction at the moment) and I don't want to hold a book.

  • Drawing is my favourite thing to do when I'm bored and I quickly forget I'm bored soon after I start. I do a lot of drawing, use Faber Castell for all of mine :)

I also like to go and surround myself in nature. Up in to my fields, watch the rabbits and wildlife, look out at the mountains. Especially fun if I take my camera and take some photos of the scenery.
