Daily Updates

A space to share what's happened today or what's on your mind.

I had bad news today this morning. The news wasn't much of a shock but it was devastating all the same. Despite this news my day and general outlook on things remains the same: I still spent the day feeling anxious and did nothing but lay in my room.

This has been my every day for some time now. And it looks like it will be until my dying day.

I'm hoping I'll do something more tomorrow - she keeps saying each day.

Hello Queen, it sounds like you have depression. Are you getting any therapy or medication for this?

If you aren't then I would recommend speaking to your GP and see if he can get you in touch with the support services who can arrange to have you supported.

There are a number of things you can do to try to dig yourself out of the malaise that you find yourself in.

1 - exercise. It doesn't need to be a 5km run or deadlifting 100Kg - just getting out for a walk every day has been proven to boost cerotonin levels which are natural mood enhancers.

2 - play with a pet, or better still, walk it. Another established mood booster is the action of stroking a pet, and if you can get exercise while spending time with them then it is a double bubble moment!

3 - talk about it. We are here to listed and offer support too. This helps keep things in perspective. The connections can be quite nourishing to your soul.

4 - work on your special interests, These are known as a good therapy when we feel low and if you can make connections though them then a second double bubble is on the horizon.

5 - share your knowledge and passions. If you can give advice or knowledge on your special interest areas then it begins to give a sense of purpose which helps break the depression.

6 - know that depression begins and ends. At some stage this will pass - sooner if you tackle it head on. There will be an end to it one day and I'm certain that will be before your dying day

7 - maintain friendships. Friends are great ways to help you pull out of a rut, even if they are only online friends.

So the ideal situation is to speak to a friend, borrow their dog to go fo a walk to somewhere you will give advice - perfect!

Is that a hint of a smile I see? The first chinks in the armour of depression are showing!!
