Colin and Colleen, and Pat and Pip. Apparently there's some sort of Columbidae meeting going on around the birdbath.

That's great, I hope you get decent weather for it.
Go for it! I'm off to an RSPB reserve tomorrow so I hope to get some more nice shots.
Anthropomorphizing them is another one of my habits, hence Colin/Colleen and Pat/Pip, but I do think the pigeons are fairly expressive sometimes, this is another of my favourite shots:

PS...our local Magpies are not be messed with either....they aren't afraid of the more fearsome looking rooks, and seem willing to tussle with a pigeon with poor manners too.
I have two of that type on adjacent fence posts and a more traditional pedestal one, I do try to make sure they have readily available fresh water. Occasionally I get a greater black cat visiting them as well

You know what you've really inspired me now, I'm gonna go find my camera and give it's battery a charge. Maybe I'll get some nice wildlife snaps this week/weekend.
Well, in terms of what pigeons say, its either "do you fancy a s**g" or "s*d off mate" based on what I observe! As Debbie has previously wisely observed....Pigeons are the low-level gansters of the UK bird world.
I think that a birdbath is like heaven for birds in weather like this. They will gather and take turns (sometimes without fighting.....but generally with) because they absolutely love to cool off, drink and chill around the cooler.
They are my most regular visitors as well.
There you go then, your place is "Becky's Cafe" for feathery friends. :)
I do feed them, there's feeders of different kinds, a bird table and loose seed on the ground. It's an all you can eat buffet kind of deal
Haha maybe. If you are feeding the birds maybe your garden is the resturant too.
I'm now wondering whether my birdbath is the equivalent of a hot tub for them.
Oh wow they look so funny sat there all together. They are probably just 2 couples on a double date. XD
Yes, absolutely! The randy pigeons are quite the pain at the moment.
Well, if the behaviour of my local pigeons/doves is anything to go by at the moment......they will be arranging a swingers party ?! Always strutting and chasing and puffing themselves up....its decidedly "charged" with them at the moment.
Considering what I know about pigeons and doves in general, I have a feeling it wouldn't be a scintillating conversation. I get the feeling they're the Ralph Wiggums of the bird world.
I love it. I wonder what they might be saying to each other.
The wood pigeons can be quite dominant. They are not as graceful as the collared doves though. They don't bother the sparrows though, possibly because they rely on them to drop seed on the ground.
Colin and Colleen are very territorial, they chase off anything else that dares to come near the bird table while they're on it, including Pat and Pip, the magpies, the crows and once, even my cat. So yes, I'm not going to underestimate them!
