I have recently been diagnosed with ASD. I wonder how would it be to have Autistic friends. Would we be able to connect more?

Hi,

I am Aisha, 23 years old. I am Autistic. Before that, I did not have an idea about it. I am curious to meet a person who is Autistic just as I am. I'm looking to learn and meet someone who can understand. Since I have always felt different around others. I wonder how it would feel not to feel too different.

Let me know what you think, did you get a chance to meet more Autistic people when you got diagnosed?

Thank you.

  • Hello welcome, nice to meet you. I'm new here as well. I've always found social interaction difficult and as a result I've not one friend, nt or autistic. I have a cousin who also has autism and she has a lot of friends but goes to autism events and chat meetups so she's mixing with people who are like her and I think she's found it a positive experience. I suffer from anxiety and find going out really difficult but if I can get on top of that I will go out and try to meet people and make friends. Good luck. I hope you can make some friends and find some understanding. Such events may be a good starting point for you as well.
