How much do you talk?

For me not a lot.

I find talking difficult. I don't know what to say, how to make my face react along with speech. I find it overwhelming and exhausting. I also suffer from CFS as well as autism and even a short conversation requires me to have a 20 min nap so I reclaim some much needed energy.

When I was little I didn't talk much then. I find that I need to judge whether it's worth me speaking, which sometimes I feel makes me come across a little rudely when I'm not I'm just trying to do what's best for me.

Sometimes I talk to myself, not in a crazy way mind, just where I say what I'm thinking which helps me think and work things out.

Generally I stay silent though. Talking is tiring and it's stressful. I feel happier when I'm saying nothing.

  • I can be the very quiet moody brooding type, or the nonsensical chatter box, or the hyper logical cold purveyor of facts and reasoned opinion. - It depends on the setting ~ AND how my energy levels are.

If I'm with people I feel comfortable with, or if on my own doing something, then I can talk a lot - or not at all.  I often talk to myself even when others are present.

If I'm in a "formally casual" setting with other grown-ups I don't know, and I'm expected to be a "normal" sociable adult.......then I talk much, much less.....because frankly, I rarely see the point in doing so.

If I'm in a professional, work or formal setting, I speak easily as often or as little as found to be necessary.
