Zines!

I have made lots of zines- they are a really cool and easy art project so I thought I’d write about it here if anyone wants to talk about art.

they are essentially mini scrap magazines that you can make with any available materials. This is a short explanation/tutorial;

1.get several sheets of paper (any size or amount- 2 a3 sheets is a good start) you could also use any for, of scrap paper as inserts like receipts etc…

2.decorate however you want on both sides of each page- you can collage, draw, write, paint or even do 3D art which you can then scan and print to be flat.

3.then cut your finished pages into quarters (or modify based of shape of book you want or size or paper using). It’s okay to cut through your previous design so it is fragmented- the more randomised the better:)

4. Stack your pages and fold them all in half to make the ‘spine’ of your zine.

5. Use needle and thread and bind your pages along the fold. You can use a simple running stitch or look at book binding technique (a bit trickier to explain but also quite easy)

6.trim any excess around the edges of your pages if you want to neaten.

done!

I know this is not autism related I just really love talking about art- if anyone happens to make one or has already made any feel free to share pictures etc..
