Book recommendations :)

Hello, this is my first time ever posting on here and it makes me a bit nervous- I’m not too sure if anyone will see this but if you do here are some good books;

1. The Midnight Library- was an easy read and interesting story. I liked the visual imagery. In summary it’s about a woman who lives out different versions of her life while in a purgatory-like state to see how her life would’ve turned out if she had acted on certain missed opportunities as she had many regrets from her life. Some of the dialogue wasn’t my favourite but overall would recommend. (Theme of suicide).

2. The Bell Jar- also has themes of suicide. I really enjoyed it. The main character experiences psychotic depression and the story follows her breakdowns and eventual recovery after being institutionalised. Also about being a woman in the 50s and how it affected her to have to adhere to strict societal norms.

3. The reason I jump- a story from the point of view of a young autistic boy who talks about his experience. It is great to read. There is also a separate short fiction by him at the end of the book which is really beautiful.

4. The little prince- a very short story, I think I read it in a day. I really like it there are so many great quotes from it. I even created a whole art project based on a character from it. The story mainly follows the character of the prince who meets many different characters. Also such nice visual imagery. A key theme is the imagination of children.

5. My Name is Victoria & Eliza Rose- both a younger reading age but still very interesting stories and I enjoyed lots. They are historical fiction by Lucy Worsley- so probably enjoyable if you’re interested in that too.

6. The curious incident of the dog in the nighttime- a story about an autistic boy that starts with him investigating the death of his neighbour’s dog and ends up learning a lot more about the world around him and people in his life. Quite a short book and I enjoyed it.

I find it quite hard to start tasks like reading a book but all of these were good books once you get into them.
