Autistic (and other neurodivergent) comedians are just funnier IMO

I don't know if it's just because I can relate to them better or usually autistic comedians just nail observatonal comedy, but as an autistic person I just find autistic comedians much more funny compared to NT comedians - who admittedly the NT comedians are fewer than they believe I'm sure, but the "out" autistic and other I suspect are some kind of neurodivergence that overlaps with mine comedians just have me howling with laughter. Heck maybe it is a how-relatable-it-is thing.

Anyone else find this is true or if they are not diagnosed do you suspect your fave comedian of being autistic or otherwise neurodivergent too?

  • My favourite stand-up comedian is Stewart Lee. While I have no reason to believe that he is autistic, or has obvious autistic traits, I think that his humour is distinctly autistic-friendly. He does not try to create a rapport with the audience, he tends to insult the audience or sections of it in an ironic, self-referential way. He uses a lot of repetition, and his sets require a level of concentration as he makes many back-references to previous comments.
