My brain has lots of scripted responses stored but is really bad at picking the right one for the situation.

mine too. Sometimes I listen to conversations to pick up new scripts. I am getting better at talking with others by reading dialog out loud from books, or the news. I can also do quite well in front of an audience where back and forth are not in play.

Scripted is fine, if I have to prepare to talk with say a customer, I’ve learned the names of their children, wife and what hobbies they have. A random phone call is like ‘ a rabbit in the headlights’. A random response in a conversation is really me thinking, “please go away,” the random words are me not having enough bandwidth to communicate properly.
