Failed my 2nd driving test! What to do next...

Failed my 2nd driving test today.

Serious Faults:

Use of mirrors - change direction
Reverse Park (car park) - control

Driving Faults
Move off - Safety 3
Control - Steering 2
Positioning - Normal driving 2
Control - Gears 1
Position - Normal stop 1
Use of mirrors - change speed 1

Have to admit, I kind of feel like giving up at the moment .

I would have passed if the 2 serious faults were OK, but now not sure what to do to help me with them

Never mind - just wanted to vent xx

  • Sorry to hear this, but keep going! Took me three goes, and more is not unusual either.

  • Thanks Shardovan Slight smile.
I am going to continue driving - as I now want to try and do more things on my own, which means having to pass my driving test, but I am going to give it a few months to get my reversing techniques nailed better.

I really struggled to do a reverse bay park on the left and that really ruined the test for me, well...that and the fact that the examiner was a dragon (actually no...dragons are nicer lol).

I broke down before and during the test as well...so my anxiety hit majorly high levels as well.

    Mweekie xx

  • Aw, I'm sorry. Those guys seem to have no idea how their personality's impact on your nerves. Hope you get a nicer one next time.

Parallel parking I still still struggle with and I've been driving for 22 years now. Being scrutinised while you do these things is not at all easy. But you will get there.

  • Just been speaking to my instructor (who is also a good friend of mine) and he's said to just concentrate on getting the manoeuvres right, than worry about the next test for now, which I think is good advice.

I have a goal for when I do pass my test and that is to take my best friend to Whipsnade Zoo for the day, just us two, as she's never been to the zoo before and she's helped me so much with my autism journey and I really want to treat her to a day out Slight smile.

Might wait for a few months before I think I'll be ready for another test though xx

  • Also, on the next one... don't be tempted to throw the towel in early if you feel something went wrong early. Not saying you did this time, just that it's an understandable thing to happen. I had something happen in the one I passed that felt like total catastrophe, and apparently not.
