Here is some interesting information about yawning, and according to this there are many theories and possibilities as to why we yawn, but no one definitive conclusion:

The research (http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=yawning-not-contagious-for-children-with-autism) supposedly shows that autistic people are less likely to yawn contagiously.
However, we all do yawn contagiously and all 3 of us are definitely on the spectrum.
Contagious yawning is a form of empathy, and there is much debate as to how much, or which types of empathy, we are impaired with.
I definitely have affective empathy (also known as sympathy).
