Is this an autism thing or something else?

'm pulling together all the information for my referral and wanted to know whether something is relevant or not. Sometimes areas of my skin get so sensitive to touch that it becomes painful if anything does touch it, mostly on my arms and hands but sometimes other places as well. Does this come under hypersensitivity to touch or is it not autism related? It's not my only hypersensitivity to touch if it is.

It can be autism related yes. It sounds like hypersensitivity. I feel the same if anyone taps me on the shoulder.

I think I kind of dismissed it because it's not consistent, but then up until this week I hadn't realised you can be both hypersensitive/hyposensitive at different times. Everything is an eye-opener at the moment.

Yes I find these things can come and go. It depends on other external factors, for instance what other stresses you might be going through that day, or how many social interactions you have had to have, or other sensory stimulations
