Occupation Health Sessions

Good afternoon,

I'm new to this site and looking for some advice. My son is 6 years old and autistic he also has sensory processing disorder although he is yet undiagnosed. His school are amazing and have put many interventions in place to help him navigate school.

This week has been really tough after 2 weeks off for easter holidays. But the usual interventions are not working and he has been particularly violent in his meltdowns both with other children and with the teachers.

My question is do we pay to get him privately diagnosed, so that we can access additional support services such as behaviour specialists or occupational therapists? and are these services guaranteed with a diagnosis or will we still be on a long NHS waiting list. Or do we wait for the NHS diagnosis and instead use our money to pay privately for these additional services (money is limited)

Any advice would be greatly received. As it feels like we are struggling to help our son.
