So I'm British, currently a US Army wife living in Germany. We're thinking of getting out of the Army and moving back to the UK. Whilst Army life is very difficult in many ways, my DD, aged 3 year, gets very good services for her ASD dx for free from the medical benefits.....she currently gets 1.5 hours weekly private speech therapy, 2.5 hours 5 times a week in a special ed pre school (only 3 mins walk from where we live) and access to ABA therapy if desired, all for free. As we're in Germany there are less options then if we were stateside, but I'm happy with what she's getting right now and delighted with her progress.
I'd love to know how this compares with services your child receives in the UK on the NHS....I'd also love to know how easy it was to access the services, and whether you have to pay for services, and if so, how much.
Thanks very much,
Ellie
