My Trousers are Noisy is it Autism!!!??

Hi

I bought some corduroy trousers and dyed them. The vertical ridges are a bit thick. When I am walking along the thigh areas rub together and make a slish noise with every step.  It is annoying. Also my feet make a plop noise with each step but it has never bothered me. However the trouser noise is out of time with the step as of course their position in relation space when I step. I understand Autistics find overlapping sound hard so could it be Autism. I have wanted to not wear them. It is not a problem in town or with traffic just when quiet.

All seems silly have a laugh on me!

  • im sorry but i did laugh abit.  this sounds like a question put in the Dear Deidre column.  in answer to your question, corduroy trousers are the devil but cannot be used a sole tool to diagnose autism.

  • Yes of course it would not be a sole tool even if weird. I have the trousers on right now. Maybe I am getting used to them. On the other hand I live by nature and it is in the quiet walks that I notice the noise.

Mind you I have recently been through a disco Autism assessment and there were so many so many questions, small aspects of behaviour as well as larger ones question after question for hours. Maybe it could be included in the questions. “Do you notice when your trousers rub together” lol!
