I can't remember if you said you are retired or not, but I came across this information that I thought might possibly be useful to students on the spectrum (although it says innovation, people with ASC may need innovative approaches to learning and let's face it, as there are so little adjustments for people with ASCs having something to help them would be an innovation in itself:

The Higher Education Academy

Anyone who is responsible for the student learning experience, working in higher education institutions in the UK that subscribe to the Higher Education Academy, and students of those institutions.

Eligibility

Anyone who is responsible for the student learning experience, working in higher education institutions in the UK that subscribe to the Higher Education Academy, and students of those institutions.

Type of grants

Teaching development grants to a maximum of £7,000 for projects that aim to encourage innovations in learning and teaching. £28,000 of the £315,000 a year available for the teaching development grants is ring fenced for new academic staff (less than 5 years in a full time role). A further £28,000 is ring fenced for HEA Fellows who have never had a teaching development grant before.

The UK Travel Fund awards staff and students up to £300, three times a year to enable them to engage in events and meetings, to further good practice in learning, teaching and assessment within higher education.

Guidelines, terms and conditions and FAQs for the teaching development grants are available on the website, along with examples of recently funded projects. Applicants should note that this scheme is only open for applications for a limited amount of time each year, which is outlined on the website.
