Can you look yourself in the eye?

A quick question from me to satisfy my curiosity really. Can you make eye contact with yourself? I.e. in the mirror, during video calls or recordings etc.

I have found that I struggle to do this. It makes me feel the same discomfort I feel with others. I remember using video recordings and conferences during the pandemic and found that during those, I could never really look at myself. I’m the same in the mirror- I can check my face, beard etc. but not my eyes.

Just interested to see if others experience the same or not.

  • I can, because I wear eye makeup fairly often and regularly need to fish stray eyelashes out of my eye (horrible, but less horrible than getting poked in the eyeball by the eyelash). It's not really direct eye contact though- I tried that just now in the bathroom mirror and it felt very odd.
