Can you look yourself in the eye?

A quick question from me to satisfy my curiosity really. Can you make eye contact with yourself? I.e. in the mirror, during video calls or recordings etc.

I have found that I struggle to do this. It makes me feel the same discomfort I feel with others. I remember using video recordings and conferences during the pandemic and found that during those, I could never really look at myself. I’m the same in the mirror- I can check my face, beard etc. but not my eyes.

Just interested to see if others experience the same or not.

  • Now that is interesting!

I have always found eyes fascinating, i stare into mine every now and again and it is the first thing i usually notice in other people... it is as if i try to read the mind behind it which i think helps sometimes.

however, if i am having a conversation and it gets emotional, i noted that i divert my gaze to the nearest window and have to continuously make an effort to look back to the person i am talking to.

alot easier if the person is wearing glasses (sometimes i wear blue light glasses to help with that although i don't need them)
