Oh, it's tonight? I thought it was scheduled for Saturday for some reason.
I have a Zoom meeting prior to that on Sundays usually, starting at 7 30, finish just before 9, then I need to cook dinner. Then there is a drawing class I attend on alternate Sundays. And here the hour is one hour ahead of British time.
My time does tend to get eaten up. Sorry, but Sunday is hopeless for me!
Well you are welcome to tune in. I stream them from a ZOOM account, I start at 8:00 sharp, and you get the film in 42 minute chunks, with a brief pause in the middle just long enough for basic biological functions or putting the kettle on etc. It seems to work O.K. so far.
The account details are easy to find just search for " Film Night!! " Fight club is worth watching a couple of times IMHO. It's quite interesting...
If you will forgive my autistic bluntness (I hope our time together grants me some latitude!)......
I don't perceive any reason for you to feel "wierded out" but ample reason to feel "deflated" and "foolish for trying." In my opinion, any and all of these "feels" are not appropriate in this instance.
I really don't think it is anything to do with you personally.......it is perhaps just that the underpinning idea of "film night" simply does not appeal to most.
Like you, I would imagine that many people are desperately looking for greater community and connection with other autistic people - I count myself amongst those people.
However, it is perfectly reasonable to hypothesise that your "film night" concept simply does not offer "a sufficiency of connectedness" to merit buy-in? This is wholly conceivable to me.
In short (with autistic efficiency)......perhaps it was simply a sh*t idea mate. That certainly doesn't reflect badly on your Mr Sperg, and perhaps more importantly, the silver lining is the important message from this episode of effort..........you now have found a few of your chums who want to watch a film with you on a regular basis. That, my friend, is flipping super !
I'm going to be honest I'm a bit weirded out by it's failure to be successful here...
I've had ONE participant from this site, twice in eight screenings! I did think at first it was because I wasn't "working" the topic hard enough, but it isn't that. I know I'm not everyone's cup of tea, but I baked in limited interaction from the get go, so that isn't the issue.
The "need to feel included" still seems to be being expressed hereabouts, for many people, yet clearly "film night" does not hit the spot for this group of people here..
Well, it turns out that a couple of mates who I enlisted to help me with the service delivery aspect, do enjoy it, and the "hidden benefit to me", was in fact to practice regularly delivering a service, reliably and on time, so it looks good to continue.
Next week the film is going to be "new to me". I'm stepping out of my comfort zone of films I know to be "universally good" for a while... It'll probably be "Arrival"...
No bother brother.
Thanks for stepping up to try and help number. Much appreciated.
I think Isperg just thought it would be nice for people to watch the same film as him, once a week, at the same time together, via zoom. I don't think Isperg has any greater nor less expectations of this "film night" thing than that.
I think book clubs can get a bit more complicated than what Isperg has been doing with his film night.
Is this similar to a book club, but with films?
Good morning Robert.
Disambiguation;
"Fight Club" is the title of a film.
Isperg has been uploading a film to Zoom every Sunday night for people to watch at the same time.
Isperg has been calling this event "film night"
This week, the film that Isperg is uploading for "film night" is "Fight Club."
"Fight Club" is a very well known film and it addresses (very cleverly) the concepts of;
what is real and what is not real..................madness........and............ mental illness.
Because of the film's core is "what is real?" and because many people know the film (it is very famous,) the term "fight club" is quite often used during speech and in writing to question reality.
Accordingly, any speech or writing that includes the phrase "fight club" are likely to be very hard indeed to untangle..........unless you have watched and understood the film..........or someone like me has bothered to explain it to someone like you. We're mates.
Number.
Isperg,
Oh. thank God.
Yes. I don't think I should apply myself to the role of "marketing exec" for a "content provider" ever again.
Fight Club is a magnificent movie - and people/someone wants to watch it with you - take the win brother!
Number
Nope.
There's clearly little demand for the service here, I've been feeling like I'm begging for viewers, and I've run out of patience with that feeling. I don't "struggle to succeed" for long these days. A thing either works or it does not.I did enough of that crap over the last 50 years...
I'm not making any effort to advertise here any more. I don't like doing it. It's starting to feel like applying for a job every week...
I'll still keep running the films for the people who do attend, but it's clearly turned into a personal thing I do with my friends, rather than the public service for this space as I initially envisioned.
Oh golly, is it that time of the week again!
Would you be kind enough to publish the Zoom pass code again HERE please.
Thank you.
