Movie star crushes

Let’s be shallow for a moment and talk about our favourite movie stars. They might be your favourite because you admire their acting skills or maybe you just like their looks…that’s where the shallow comes in. It will be fun to find out who we all like for whatever reason. It can be present or past.

so I will set the ball rolling

actors I like for their acting skills     Tom Hanks, Dennis Quaid, Alan Rickman.  Dennis Quaid was particularly good in his role as Doc Holliday in Wyatt Earp.
Actors I like for their looks

Gerard Butler belting out Music of the night in Phantom of the opera.

Hugh Jackman, in most things but particularly in the movie Australia.

Brendan Fraser in George of the Jungle, who looked pretty damn good in Armani and again in Dudley Do Right, dressed in black leathers and riding a motor bike.

Scarlett Johansson is beautiful as is Uma Thermann but I don’t think you can beat Angelina Jolie in The Tourist, she was absolutely gorgeous and I wanted to be her.

  • I find that I have crushes on specific characters rather than the actors who play them- that might be an asexual thing, or it might just be the disappointment when nobody's as goth in real life as they are for whichever film I've seen them in!

    I do like David Tennant, but he tends to do more TV and stage work than films.

    People I just generally like to see in films and TV: Taika Waititi, Claire Foy, Charles Dance, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Hiddleston, and the late Alan Rickman and Vincent Price.

    Your tastes do seem to overlap a lot with mine.  David Tennant is right up there for me. Taika as Blackbeard because I'm neck deep in obsession with that show right now. I remember Charles Dance being Phantom of the Opera in my youth which spawned another huge obsession. And of course Tom as Loki. 

    Currently I also have a big thing for Mason Alexander Park who is so beautiful in every way.

    Weirdly I never actually imagine myself with my crushes, just with their romantic counterparts from whatever show I'm fixated on. And yes, I also picture them as characters and seeing them as actors is a bit weird because that character becomes so big and real in my head.
