Sparkly's Lousy Memory

This is really bugging me...

When I was a very young child, I had been read a story about a man with a hammer. The only thing I can remember is that the sound of the man hammering was, "Bim-bam, bim-bam". Whatever the title of the book was I have long since forgotten.

The story had obviously made something of an impression on me. After visiting my grandad who had been hammering, I then spent the next few years referring to him as 'Grandad Bim-bam'.

I just wish I could remember the title of the book.

  • Mind if I add one of my own? It was some big book about Fairies - dark green cover I think (possibly minus it’s dust jacket though) and about A4 size. There were descriptions of fairy types throughout, but far from being pretty delicate things they were often up to quite disturbing stuff like torturing beetles or forcing ladybirds to be beast of burden and so forth. Really detailed illustrations, but quite unsettling.
