Sparkly's Lousy Memory

This is really bugging me...

When I was a very young child, I had been read a story about a man with a hammer. The only thing I can remember is that the sound of the man hammering was, "Bim-bam, bim-bam". Whatever the title of the book was I have long since forgotten.

The story had obviously made something of an impression on me. After visiting my grandad who had been hammering, I then spent the next few years referring to him as 'Grandad Bim-bam'.

I just wish I could remember the title of the book.

  • This thread shows the limits of the internet for finding treasured lost things. Tangible talismans of times past, fondest memories. There may be a site somewhere with an 'ask the expert' dimension that could be your only hope. Otherwise, you'll likely live out your life never again rediscovering it.

I have a memory of a film that's like that. Never could track it down.

  • I remember watching a TV series with my Dad probably in the late 80s which I enjoyed, but he doesn't remember and I have such a hazy recall of it, I think it was slightly fantasyish maybe and might have had some kind of stained glass in the title sequence. Which is simply not enough to go on even remotely! Of course even if I found it I'd probably find it rubbish now, as so many things I remember enjoying at that age on rewatching so many years later... Not everything of course, Bagpuss is still wonderful for example.

The new search chat MS are coming out with on bing might be able to find this sort of thing, though I find the concept slightly terrifying. Soon AI will make it even harder to know what or who is real...
